Clergyman and entomologist. One of the authors of the Bridgewater Treatises (1833–6) and, in collaboration with William Spence, co-author of Introduction to entomology (1815–26). Vicar of Barham, Suffolk, 1797–1850. One of the original fellows of the Linnean Society, 1788. Honorary president of the Entomological Society, 1837. FRS 1818.
